Among the diseases of affluence, which terrify us the most, are neurodegenerative diseases. Progressing degradations of the nervous system lead to development of many diseases, such as dementia, Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease. People of old age, especially those suffering from neurodegenerative lesions, have a low level of DHA in their brain – which might be caused by consuming too much of omega 6 and saturated fatty acids.
In order to balance the supply of omega 3 and 6 in the diet, the best solution is to supplement omega 3. Capsules or fish oil might easily provide high doses of DHA and EPA acids, which allows to keep the brain in perfect condition for many years.
